UVUSA adopts Geneva Road

A day of service and free breakfast began early last Saturday morning for the participants in UVUSA’s first Adopt-a-Highway service project. This year, UVUSA adopted a two-mile stretch of Geneva Road extending from mile marker four to mile marker six, which is located near Parkway Crossing Apartments in Orem.

With the increase in enrollment and replacing a parking lot with the new Digital Learning Center, finding a good parking space on campus is difficult. UVU Parking and Transportation has been trying to meet students’ parking needs. They have increased the campus motorcycle parking this semester, have acquired land near the university that might be used for parking, and have proposed that a parking garage be built on campus.

Walking around campus, many blue recycling bins can be seen around the hallways. Although UVU has a recycling program, it doesn’t quite match up to other campuses in the state.

In order to accommodate an anticipated increase in student usage, the UVU library staff will be administering a voluntary campus-wide survey during the beginning of fall semester to determine whether an extension of the library’s hours is in order.

Everywhere you look in Orem, you can see evidence that BYU is no longer the only popular university in the valley: Green and gold UV flags hang from local businesses to show their support for the Wolverines, the UV logo has been painted on major intersections in Orem, and a burgeoning number of alumni, students and community members sport UVU gear.
