Campus News: KURT BESTOR TO PERFORM CHRISTMAS CONCERT AT UVU – With Christmas around the corner, Kurt Bestor, a Utah-based composer and performer, will be performing his fourth annual Christmas concert Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. in the McKay Events Center. The concert will recognize local cancer survivors of Central Utah Cancer Center and raise funds for UVU student scholarships.

Dec. 1- Disorderly Conduct – A 46-year-old male was issued a citation for disorderly conduct after he was observed stalking a female during the Utah Flash game at the McKay Events Center. The suspect was also barred from the McKay Event Center for the rest of the 2008-2009 game season.

I was reading the latest issue of the paper and I was pleased to see something out of the ordinary in the sports section: humor. Editor-in-Chief Jack Waters wrote a piece about Ryan Toolson missing two free throws. The idea sounds average at best; however, Waters made me almost snort milk out my nose with his witty humor.

Toolson Earns Second Weekly Award Utah Valley’s Ryan Toolson was named the Great West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 30, the league office announced Tuesday. Toolson earns his second weekly honor in three weeks as the senior averaged 29.

Six NFL players were suspended for four games without pay for violating the league’s anti-doping policy. They used a diuretic that can be used as a masking agent for steroids. The suspended players were running back Deuce McAllister and defensive linemen Charles Grant and Will Smith of New Orleans; defensive linemen Kevin and Pat Williams of Minnesota; and long snapper Bryan Pittman of Houston.

Nov. 19 – Attempted Suicide – A 25-year-old male attempted suicide by overdosing on prescription medication. UVU custodial personnel discovered the unconscious male in a restroom in the Liberal Arts building and notified police. The male was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
