A’s add Holliday The low-budget Oakland A’s helped themselves recently as they acquired outfielder Matt Holliday in a trade with the Colorado Rockies. Holliday, a major contributor to the Rockies team from a season ago that went to the World Series, will add his big bat to the Oakland lineup.

Michael Jacobs of ATK Launch Systems will be talking about the Ares I rocket program. Ares I is the fleet of rockets being developed by NASA to replace the Space Shuttle fleet.

Oct. 28 – DUI – UVU Police were at the Sinclair Gas station at 1200 S 800 W when they observed a intoxicated female get into a vehicle and drive off. UVU police initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested a 44-year-old female for DUI. The female was booked into the Utah County Jail.

Man vs. toilet Who of you on this campus hasn’t used a restroom at UVU and before you’re finished the toilet’s automatic system decides to abruptly flush, violently spraying toilet water all over your lower half? I’ve cowardly entered the campus restrooms in fear for years, but a few weeks ago revelation struck me.

Women’s golf finishes fall with 17th-place finish The Utah Valley women’s golf team capped the 2008 fall season with a 17th-place finish in the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational at Cypress Ridge Golf Course on Tuesday. Kasey Larson (76-84–160) was the top finisher for UVU, tying for 46th after an 84 in Tuesday’s final round.

After just three games in the NBA season, there is a monster trade. The Detroit Pistons acquired Allen Iverson and sent Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess to the Denver Nuggets. Iverson is looking forward to his new home in Detroit. Billups is also excited because most of his off-season workouts are done in Denver.

The Utah Valley women’s soccer 2008 season, it’s most successful ever at the NCAA level, ended with a tough 1-0 loss at Longwood in the United Soccer Conference Championship game on Monday night. Despite the loss in the final, the 2008 Wolverines will go down as the winningest team in the school’s six-year NCAA history.
