Campus: Wildflower photographs needed: Jim Harris, a biology professor at UVU, is collecting photographs of Mount Timpanogos wildflowers in order to build a Web site database. The database will be used to plot plant distributions and correlate that data with other information like environmental factors and elevation in order to create a detailed analysis of the vegetation of Mount Timpanogos.

Hello. My name is Heather and I’m a BYU fan. With all due respect to Greg Wilcox and his aversion to BYU, (UVU Review Opinion, Aug. 24, 2007) I’m a little disturbed that I have not only been compared to a presumably smelly guy no one wants to dance with, but also accused of soiling this sacred university.
How do you feel about the wetlands on campus being destroyed to make way for track and field? It reminds me of the Joni Mitchell song “Big Yellow Taxi”: “Don’t it always seem to go That you don’t know what you’ve got Till it’s gone They paved paradise And put up a parking lot.
Ohio State nightmare
As the college football season kicks off, the debate as to who will win the Heisman Trophy is already in full force. One candidate, Beanie Wells of Ohio State, sent a shiver through the spines of Buckeye fans everywhere when he fell to the turf with a foot injury at his team’s opening-week win over Youngstown State.

UVU cross country fares well in season opener Utah Valley’s men’s and women’s cross country teams finished second and third respectively as they began the 2008 season at the Idaho State Invitational Saturday morning. “It was a pretty good day for us overall,” head cross-country coach Scott Houle said.
In the “Best Of” section of the UVU Review’s Aug. 25 issue, we listed upcoming events in the McKay center as Muse, Damien Rice, and Guster. These concerts were in September of 2007.
In memory of Milo Amosa: UVU English Literature Professor Milo Amosa passed away on Aug. 17. Amosa held doctorates in history, political science and English. Last year he presented a paper and participated in a round table discussion at Oxford University. His funeral services were on Aug. 22.
