Fairbanks Gets 1,000th Rebound in Final Road Game Robyn Fairbanks became the first Utah Valley player to reach 1,000 career rebounds in the Wolverines’ (13-10) 90-75 loss at North Dakota State on Monday night. She entered the game needing eight rebounds to reach the mark and got number 1,000 with 1:25 left in the first half.

Leipheimer wins third straight The recent conclusion of the Tour of California ended up with American Levi Leipheimer attaining his third straight victory in the event. He defeated Utah native David Zabriskie by a large margin of 36 seconds. Leipheimer took the yellow jersey on stage two after a breakaway ride where he finished second, but gave him the overall lead.

Dick Hunsaker is the head coach of the UVU men’s basketball team. In his seven seasons as the Wolverines’ head coach, Hunsaker has posted an impressive 134-68 record. A telling example of Hunsaker’s success was the 2001 University of Utah basketball team.

McPherson Named GWC Male Track & Field POW Michael McPherson, a freshman (Parker, Colo./Chaparral HS) on Utah Valley University’s men’s track and field team, has been named the Great West Conference Male Indoor Track and Field Athlete of The Week, as announced by league officials Tuesday.

McGrady likely done for the season The Houston Rockets were supposed to make a run in the Western Conference after acquiring bad-boy Ron Artest during the off-season. That doesn’t look to be the case as Tracy McGrady has announced that he will miss the remainder of the season with knee problems that will require microfracture surgery.

Avalon Named WWC Wrestler of the Week- Utah Valley University sophomore heavyweight wrestler Diego Avalon (Corpus Christi, Texas/Mary Carroll HS) has been named the Western Wrestling Conference’s Wrestler of the Week as announced by league officials. Avalon led UVU to its 10th consecutive win on the season and also a 3-0 start in Western Wrestling Conference action Saturday night at North Dakota State.
