UVU has invited Said T. Jawad, Ambassador of Afghanistan to the United States, to campus to discuss his country’s development and its most pressing challenges, including security and the relationship between the new U.S. administration and President Hamid Karzai.
A group of students from UVU’s Culinary Arts Institute recently won a gold medal at the Utah State Junior Hot Food Team Competition. It was the first student team gold medal in UVU history. The competition was sponsored by the Beehive Chefs Chapter of the American Culinary Federation (ACF) and held in conjunction with the Utah Restaurant Association Pro Start Career Fair.
The new library at UVU is the most energy efficient building in the state. Being the first building constructed under the guidelines of Utah’s High Performance Building program, the Digital Learning Center will save UVU close to $100,000 per year in utility costs.

The Ethics Faculty Advisory Committee recently announced the recipient of the University Faculty Fellowship in Ethics: Dr. David Clark Knowlton, associate professor of behavioral science, received $7,000 for the 2008-2009 academic year.
Found on nearly 300 campuses worldwide, the honor society Phi Kappa Phi is forming its newest chapter at UVSC. This addition is coming due to our approaching status change to university.
