Utah Transit Authority is broadening its routes and accessibility by offering a new express route from Eagle Mountain through Saratoga Springs to Salt Lake City. Express route 806 started service on April 6, 2009, and is part of the service now being offered to the area after Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs voted to join UTA’s service district in the 2008 general election.
UVU Physics professor Steve Wasserbaech will soon take a leave from the university for a yearlong appointment at the world-renowned CERN laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland. CERN is a French acronym for the European Organization for Nuclear Research. Wasserbaech will spend his sabbatical at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a gigantic scientific instrument spanning some 17 miles beneath the border between France and Switzerland.

After 35 years of service to the school, Dr. J. Karl Worthington, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs, is retiring. “Karl is a resource that we will sorely missed on this campus,” Interim President Elizabeth Hitch said. “He may be able to clean his desk, but he will never be able to erase the indelible mark of his positive effects on the college as it has become a university.
According to an e-mail sent by Elizabeth Hitch, Interim President, a UVU faculty and staff campaign raised a total of $164,106.99 with 63 percent of the full-time staff participating. The campaign allows faculty and staff to donate a portion of their salary or paycheck to the department and needs of their choice.
