Green Day rarely gains respect outside of the albums Dookie and American Idiot. But I have to respectfully disagree and claim that Nimrod is the album that proves the band’s importance. Although the tacky track, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” is probably the only track on the album still getting airplay, the album truly has some good tunes that were reluctantly looked over.

The Covey Center’s latest musical, Polly, is a family affair. The one-woman musical was written by Cedar Hills composer and playwright Steven Kapp Perry for his wife, Johanne Frechette Perry, about his great-great-great grandmother. Polly encompasses one woman’s entire lifetime of memories in two acts.

Local percussive dance teams will unite in an explosion of rhythmic stomping at the Covey Center this Saturday. Tap, clog, and Irish dance companies will all perform at the event, showcasing rapid-fire footwork and thrilling man-made rhythms. One of the featured groups is Foot Poetry, a recently-formed tap dance ensemble directed by Colleen West.
