Green Day rarely gains respect outside of the albums Dookie and American Idiot. But I have to respectfully disagree and claim that Nimrod is the album that proves the band’s importance. Although the tacky track, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)” is probably the only track on the album still getting airplay, the album truly has some good tunes that were reluctantly looked over.
The Covey Center’s latest musical, Polly, is a family affair. The one-woman musical was written by Cedar Hills composer and playwright Steven Kapp Perry for his wife, Johanne Frechette Perry, about his great-great-great grandmother. Polly encompasses one woman’s entire lifetime of memories in two acts.
When Slumdog Millionaire was announced the winner of the Golden Globes for Best Picture, it was lavished with glowing Oscar predictions. But acclaimed novelist Salman Rushdie told the New York Times that he wasn’t a fan of the film, saying the storyline felt implausible, “And I’m the only person who thinks this,” he added.

A companion piece to Gilead, Home reacquaints readers with the lives of certain members of the small town of Gilead, Iowa.
Starting this Friday, the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy will showcase hundreds of new 2009-model vehicles. As well as alternative fuel vehicles, classics, and exotic cars at the 2009 Utah International Auto Expo. Domestic and Import Manufacturers from Pontiac to Porsche will be represented at the expo, which continues until Jan.
Every time I eat one of my typically modest-budget meals, I always find myself thanking heaven I’m too pathetic to have a car. To be sure, I’m more pathetic for not having a license. It’s a long story involving some eggs, a wedding and a car chase, but in high school I never got that special privilege to drive.

Shoplifters, impromptu dance numbers, and a washed-up celebrity make Empire Records a movie to watch again and again.
