Stephen Fullmer, UVU professor and teacher of this semester’s Themes in Literature class, has collaborated with his students in getting bands Adjacent to Nothing and Forsaken Reminiscence to perform on campus April 27. The class, which focused this semester on the subculture and musical influence of heavy metal, has been trying all semester to get a prominent heavy metal band or musician to guest lecture in the class.

On the 3rd floor we have Susan Purdy’s Rise display paired with Tammy Ballard’s Visual Voice, exhibiting sculptures and paintings synchronized in similar colors through May 2.

Utah Lake State Park, located at the end of Provo Center Street, has clean bathrooms, hot showers, water, and camping at the edge of Utah Lake.

A Dying Need for good music

Russell Lee, founder and lead man for the band This Dying Need, wants to mix things up a little bit in the music scene. “Everyone is on a Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz kick. Still. It’s getting out of control,” Lee says, clearly exasperated. This Dying Need manages to set itself apart from the monotonous music scene in various ways.

The Annual Tulip Festival is back at Thanksgiving Point Gardens, with almost a hundred different kinds of tulips as well as hyacinths and daffodils. Planted among them are colorful pansies and other cheerful annuals. The late winter caused some concern about the flowers blooming on time, and many of the tulips have yet to bloom- but there are plenty of tulips already in full bloom.
