The women’s basketball team returned home last week after a four-game road trip. On the road they picked up two wins and suffered two losses. Their road trip began in New Jersey against NJIT on Feb. 12 when they picked up a big 70-58 win. This win continued their winning streak bringing it to six straight games.

The Wolverine wrestling team ended their 2008-09 season with a win, a school record. UVU performed a classic beating against the Air Force Academy 36-6. UVU also broke the school record for the most wins in a season with 11. The team managed to win eight of the 10 total bouts against Air Force.

The University of Wyoming broke a ten-match win streak last Friday against the Wolverines, 21-15, in front of a full crowd. The Wolverines are now 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the Western Wrestling Conference, but still have reason to rejoice with a roster full of freshman and sophomores that are likely to improve with time.

McGrady likely done for the season The Houston Rockets were supposed to make a run in the Western Conference after acquiring bad-boy Ron Artest during the off-season. That doesn’t look to be the case as Tracy McGrady has announced that he will miss the remainder of the season with knee problems that will require microfracture surgery.

The Wolverines wrapped up their last road trip of the season winning two out of the three games they played. Winning two of three is quite an accomplishment considering the Wolverines have had trouble on the road all season long. The wins give Utah Valley a 4-7 record on the road and a 14-10 overall record on the season.

Utah Valley University’s softball team opened its season with a win, 6-5, over in-state rival Southern Utah at the Red Desert Classic in St. George. The Wolverines played five big name teams and won against two. This year Wolverine softball will be fun to watch.

Utah Valley recently had its seven-game winning streak snapped by Ohio University despite another fantastic performance from Robyn Fairbanks. The senior poured in 32 points to go along with 10 rebounds in the loss. After the lady Wolverines got out to a sluggish start to the 2008-09 season they have come together to rival last seasons record, which was the best in the programs short Division I history.

With a countdown sign in the stands and Utah Jazz point guard and former Utah Valley standout Ronnie Price in the front row, as soon as the Wolverines took the court everyone new there was something in the atmosphere. Ryan Toolson reached the mark of scoring 2,000 career points on the way to a dominating 71-55 victory over the Lamar University Cardinals.
