Diet Experiment – Part 2 of 3

Finding my motivation to continue on the HCG diet program was easy after experiencing a dramatic loss of weight in the first 5 days. I’m beginning to think maybe it’s NOT too good to be true. As outlined in Dr. A.T.W. Simeons’ manuscript entitled Pounds and Inches: A New Approach to Obesity, the HCG program includes a 500 calorie diet limiting food selections down to 26 liquids, fruits, vegetables and breads — eliminating dairy completely.

Life, Laughter and Death

How are death and laughter related? Come find out at the Covey Center for the Arts’ newest play “Every Day a Little Death.” This two-person comedy starring Elwon Bakly and Fallon Hanson is centered around everyday events that bring us laughter and joy, from jokes to feeling nervous to life in general.

Weekend Retreat At the Hindi Temple

The Hindu Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple will be holding their second annual Om Shanti Retreat from Friday, April 24 to Sunday, April 26 in Spanish Fork. The retreat will be at the new Kusum Sarovar (Temple on a Lake of Flowers). From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday there will be a vegetarian buffet meal followed by yoga and an evening Kirtan chanting performance by Keshavacharya Das.

Donny and Marie storm Las Vegas

Sibling pair Donny and Marie Osmond teamed up for a 6-week run of a Las Vegas show in Sept. 2008 at the Flamingo Hotel. Fabulous and friendly crowd-pleasers, their show reached owerwhelming popularity in it’s momentum and their contract was extended untill Oct.

Idahoan Potatoes holds recipe contest

Idahoan Potatoes is offering $5,000 to the best dorm-room potato chef in the country. The contest, which began on March 23 and will close on May 22, will also give the grand-prize winner a year’s supply of Idahoan Potatoes. To enter, any full-time student in good academic standing must send in their original recipe idea using at least one of Idahoan’s products.

Toadies coming to Salt Lake

Since their formation in 1989, the Toadies have achieved a solid fan base. Many fans remain stoked on the band’s raw yet catchy brand of alternative rock, along with the intense energy that front-man Todd Lewis exudes in live performance. But if you saw the Toadies in person, you would probably never guess that they would be the ones playing their music onstage.

If you haven’t been to one of Provo’s monthly Gallery Strolls yet, now would be a great time to start. Beginning April 3, the Sego Art Center will be hosting an international new media exhibit called Forms of Melancholy which will be greeted by an opening reception that evening from 6-9 p.

Secrets are generally thought of as nefarious. However guilt and shame are not the only reasons to keep something, specifically a relationship, out of the public eye. Confidential trysts can be fun and emotionally fulfilling. The bad reputation surrounding classified connections has become a self-fulfilling prophecy, taking away the public’s chance to view an undisclosed romantic association as a privilege and a rare opportunity.

New music alert

Baton Rouge-based band Benjy Davis Project opened a window to their world with the November 4 album release, Dust, melding elements of folk, country, and pop into a sound that practically begs to be played on a cross-country road trip. The folk-anthem style is reminiscent of sun-bleached memories and over-grown prairie grasses tucking in the dusty back-roads at sunset while the warm breeze carries wisps of hair across your face in a place where everyone knows your name.
