“International cinema allows people to learn about different cultures, customs, languages and arts,” says Mark Olsen, the coordinator of integrated and interdisciplinary studies at UVU and cinema studies club advisor. Many students are unaware that the cinema studies club offers free admission to international films in LI 120 on Thursdays from 7 to 9:30.

On June 11, pop artist Kelly Clarkson will perform at Brent Brown Ballpark, the UVU baseball stadium, at 6:30 PM. The performance is part of UVUphoria! II, Orem Summerfest and Clarkson’s tour for her new album ALL I EVER WANTED, her fourth studio album which released just last week.
The Utah Opera’s latest production, The Marriage of Figaro, opened last Saturday at the Capitol Theater. Figaro, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s sequel to The Barber of Seville, is sung in the original Italian with English supertitles. The Marriage of Figaro’s plot is complicated, to say the least.

After a widespread “community engagement” campaign, a visit from Michael Moore, and concerts from bands as popular as Muse, Smashing Pumpkins, and Mika, UVU finally found itself on the map on Feb. 27. In an historical reunion, MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice took the stage at the McKay Events Center, performing together for the first time in 18 years.
In what seems to be an end of an era, March 4 marked the end for Brett Ravenberg, Josh Olsen and the Utah Valley University legend that is Ryan Toolson. With a 38-point shellacking over Houston Baptist, the Wolverines would end their season on a very high note, winning 80-42.
“Andrew Bird is easy to appreciate musically because his style is so completely innovative that he is not comparable to any other artist,” said UVU student and recent concert attendee Benjamin Buxton. With the release of his new album Noble Beast on Jan. 20, Andrew Bird has proven himself once again.
