The rock orchestra group Trans-Siberian Orchestra will play at the E-Center this Wednesday in West Valley. It will be their fourth year in a row performing in Utah. The concert will help spark excitement for the upcoming holiday season with the group’s popular renditions of traditional Christmas songs.

Just east of the University Mall, a new ultra-modern movie theater opened last Friday. The Cinemark University Mall, which saw the demise of the nearby University Cinemas dollar theater before construction on the 14 new auditoriums was finished, shows only digital movies.

I got to the soft opening about 15 minutes early, which is a character flaw. I think of myself as a cool guy sometimes, and then I realize I’m always early and never late. And If I know I’m going to be late I usually don’t go at all. Very uncool. So I’m standing inside the door of the gigantic new Cinemark Theater, not theatre, and I’m the only normal person in the room.
