Arthur Laffer, a prominent economist during the Regan administration, spoke to a group of about 200 students last Wednesday about the current economic climate. Following a long history of U.S. economic policy, Laffer reveled in his memories working with Reagan, calling him, “The only real president,” while tapping on his chest and swooning, “Ah, Ronny.” Laffer was critical of President Obama’s economic plan, but insisted “Economics are not partisan, not based on a political party.” Also mentioning environmental economics, Laffer said the current administration’s policy is, “The dumbest thing I have ever heard.” Shocking some audience members, Laffer also said, “The Middle East has lots of oil they don’t know what to do with.” He finished speaking about Obama by saying, “I am very concerned about this administration.”
