Late Sunday night on August 8th, 2024, residents at The Green on Campus Drive were promptly evacuated from their apartments when the fire alarm was set off at approximately half past 8 in the evening.
A late-night fire alarm forced the evacuation of Building 2 at The Green on Campus Drive around 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 8. Residents exited the building after the alarm sounded but were unsure of what set it off when asked by the Review.
Within five to ten minutes of the fire alarm going off, the Orem Fire Department promptly responded and entered the building to investigate the issue. After their brief investigation, it was determined that there was no fire or immediate danger, residents were then allowed back into their apartments shortly after.
It was determined that the alarm had been set off due to a resident accidentally burning food in their apartment. According to Trevor, a firefighter with the Orem Fire Department, a resident informed him of what may have tripped the alarm. “I had heard from one of the residents on the second floor that their roommate had burned some food they were cooking and had opened the door, which most likely tripped the alarm.” Trevor explained.
