It’s about that time again where everyone is out shopping for costumes, candy and, most importantly, a good scare. Kendall and Josie Schmidt, the owners of the Crazy Corn Maze in West Jordan, have spent the last ten years making sure that this time of year can be special for everyone.

Along with a few new members of their managing team, they continue to build on their techniques. For their first year of business, Kendall Schmidt spent three entire days plowing the 14 acres of land by hand, but now they have more advanced technology so that they are able to increase the quality of the maze. This year’s maze design was created by Louisse Hardy and Josie Schmidt, two female entrepreneurs.

The design has an elaborate, egyptian theme including a sphinx and pyramids that can only be seen from the sky or on the map of the maze given to you with your ticket.
This year’s maze is better than ever.

“We’re trying to make it progressively better each year,” said Nolin Johnson, one of the managers of the maze. The Schmidt’s and their team have vamped up the activities of the maze for everyone to enjoy, especially thrill-seeking college students. Open from Sept. 25 – Oct. 31, the Crazy Corn Maze offers their fun filled maze full of checkpoints and customizable trivia including true or false questionaires and other spooky seasonal aspects also.

The adventure through the maze is an hour long. But for an extra two dollars, the haunted trail is an additional ten minutes perfect for those who enjoy a night filled with frightful fun. The entry way to the haunted trail is draped with skulls and tattered cloth in front of a dark tunnel leading into the first haunt area, where monsters and other characters are waiting to assail you with a number of other horryfying sights.

Please note that rain may cause closure of the maze. The last tickets for entry each night are sold an hour before closing. Its activities and festivities  are ideal for low cost dates as well as outings for large groups of friends and family.
