Help Kappa Sigma help Africa
The colony of Kappa Sigma Fraternity will be holding their philanthropy event at the end of this month, and they need the help of the student body. They will be helping out the Mali Rising Foundation, an organization that builds schools in the African country of Mali.
Kappa Sigma will be holding an event where people assemble miniature, wooden schools that will be auctioned off at a dinner in Salt Lake City. The mini-schools are put together like a 3D puzzle, and typically take an hour to assemble.
Kappa Sigma is the ?rst fraternity colony at UVU, and is hoping to become a chapter by the end of the semester. Bektur Abdrisaev, a senior from Washington D.C. and the service chair of Kappa Sigma, stated the chapter will most likely continue to help out the Mali Rising Foundation in the future. Abdrisaev also said the chapter plans on holding a separate service project every month.
The Mali Rising Foundation event will likely take place in the student center at the end of the month and will be covered by local news stations. Kappa Sigma is hoping students will come to help assemble the mini-schools and learn more about their organization and its philanthropic aims.
There will be a follow up story as soon as more concrete details are provided, so everyone interested will have a chance to get involved.
