International film contest open to all college students
Aspiring filmmakers can get some experience in Xacobeo America’s new film contest, “Find Your Way in Galicia.” Xacobeo America is an association that promotes awareness of The Way of Saint James, a catholic pilgrimage that travels to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. It is the rumored burial place of the apostle Saint James.
Winners of the contest will receive a seven day trip to Galicia, Spain, which includes airfare, hotel and meals. The winning video will also be broadcast on the Xacobeo America website, as well as on television.
Applicants are required to upload their videos on YouTube and then register with the group on the Xacobeo America website by July 15. After the video is approved, voting will be open to all YouTube viewers. The film with the most votes will be announced the announced on July 29.
Videos must be made by students in groups of three, less than 30 seconds in length and must specifically promote The Way of St. James and Galicia. According to the website, videos are encouraged to be “provocative, creative, powerful, positive and inspiring to visit Galicia.”
