Military Love Letters

I was writing a guy overseas in the Marines, and I mean WRITING to him. I would send 25-page letters that would barely fit in a business-size, number 10 envelope. I was madly in love with him, or, really, AT him, and I made up for his lack of response by writing more.

He pointed out that all of his letter-writing time was spent reading my letters, so there was no time left to write to me. That may be true, but one day I professed by undying love and my knowledge that we were meant to be together, that I just knew he would come around.

I realized those words would not have the desired effect, though, before I sent it. Having painstakingly written the other side of the page, however, I decided to glue a picture on top of the writing.

Despite his supposed time crunch for letter reading, he said, “You have no idea how long it took me to painstakingly scrape off that picture to see what you had tried so hard to keep me from reading!”

I was mortified.
