Outdoor adventures
If anyone has rock climbing, river rafting or moonlight hikes on their bucket list, the Outdoor Adventure Center is the place to be. Located in the Student Center across from Campus Connection, flyers and signs advertising their next big trip or weekly activity are a common sight.
Alex Lott, a member of the OAC says, “Its college! We want to get people out doing something fun!”
As spring fever begins to settle in, now is the time to come and find out about all the great adventures the OAC is offering. One adventure is happening soon. Over Spring Break (March 16-20), they are hosting a trip to Nevada to climb Red Rock Canyon, topped off by meandering to Las Vegas for a night. For only $125, the trip includes things like gear and transportation, not to mention a priceless adventure.
The OAC is always planning fun trips and activities that are considerably cheap and affordable, which is great for college students on a tight budget. Lott said, “You won’t find prices like we can offer anywhere else.”
Even if a participant has no previous experience, the OAC is the perfect way to learn a new and different skill. With leaders who really know what they are doing, it will only be a matter of time before those involved become skilled themselves. It is also a great way to be proactive and meet new people.
A good way to first get involved would be to join the OAC at The Quarry in Provo every second Monday of the month. From 6-10 p.m., students can be admitted for $5 with their UVID.
Whether you like biking, snowboarding, kayaking or camping, the OAC has it all. For more information about the Outdoor Adventure Center, call (801) 863-7052 or visit them on campus in SC 103h.
