A new year is among us here at Utah Valley University. Whether a student is beginning their senior year or first-year, there are multiple tips that students should be dying to take advantage of.

Parking Hacks:

After 5 p.m. on weekdays and on Saturdays, booting and towing are not enforced. This includes any parking that requires a permit. This hack does not include accessibility parking.

Event Hacks:

Most sporting events that are held at UVU are free for UVU students and four guests of their choice. They can do this through picking up tickets at Campus Connection or online at uvu.edu/events. Not only that, but going to tailgates gives opportunities to win prizes, ranging from food vouchers to Nintendo Switches.

Food Hacks:

The Student Demo Kitchen in the Student Life and Wellness Center is the best place to get free food and tips on healthy eating. Every day from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. the Demo Kitchen gives opportunities for free food. On one Friday a month, there is Fresh Food Friday, where fresh fruits and vegetables are up for grabs. They also have monthly cooking classes, where they cook a healthy meal and give out the recipe for it.

Wolverine Wednesday is one of the biggest things a first-year student can take advantage of. If a student wears UVU gear — or the color green — many discounts are offered at a variety of places on campus, including the bowling alley.

Textbook Hacks:

Textbooks can be expensive, but the biggest tip is to look on Amazon for used books. Not only that, but if a student cannot afford textbooks, sometimes the Fulton Library will have a 2-hour reserve of a specific textbook, and they can take pictures of what they need until they can afford to get the textbook.
