The spring internship and career fair will be held in the Grande Ballroom January 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bi-annual fair, hosted by the Career Services and Student Employment Office, is boasting a list of over 70 employers to be on campus recruiting during the event.
The fair is not limited to juniors and seniors; the event is open to students at all levels of study. In addition to this, employers are not only looking for students to fill internship positions, they will also be recruiting graduating seniors and alumni seeking to enter the job market.
Laura Carlson, UVU Student Employment Manager, said that there are a lot of assumptions about what employers are hiring for at the fair.
“Students need to realize that these companies will be here hiring for their corporate offices, for their management training programs, for human resources and IT positions as well,” added Alison Gray, Career Fair Chairman.
Gray said in addition to building your resume, internships also give students the opportunity to network and to experience the type of work they are thinking about majoring in.
“Students may decide after three months in an internship they don’t like the field and so then they still have time while they are in school to change their career track and to pursue something else,” she said. “It’s a test drive to make sure what you’re pursuing is what you really want to end up doing.”
Students are encouraged to dress in appropriate business attire and bring plenty of copies of their resume to hand out to employers.
