College Portrait is possible through a system called Voluntary Systems of Accountability (VSA). It is a Web site that provides data for undergraduate institutions across the country. Developed by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) and the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges (NASULGC), this program was intended to help establishments be accountable and to inform the public of educational progress.
College Portrait offers prospective students a way to preview what UVU offers. They can view the stats for average class size, male to female student ratio, cost of attendance, and many other important facts to know before making a college choice. College Portrait is also very user friendly. Even the most technology-challenged person will be able to navigate through the document and understand the tables.
“UVU certainly saw the value of letting the public know who we are, what we want to do, and where we are headed as an institution and at the same time provide greater transparency and accountability to those whom we serve,” said Robert Loveridge of UVU Institutional Research and Information.
