Associate Dean of Students resigns
OREM — On Tuesday morning, it was confirmed by a UVU spokesperson that Associate Dean of Students Phil Clegg has resigned. Clegg was the Director of Student Leadership & Activities and has been at UVU since 1997 when it was originally UVSC. According to the spokesperson, it is the University’s practice not to comment on personnel matters. But some of the students who worked with Clegg this past year in the UVU Student Association commented on the resignation.
“Phil Clegg has been an advocate of UVU students since he was Student Body President 20 years ago,” 2015-16 Student Body president Dylan Swarts said. “During my tenure, he was always there to give background information about many issues related to students, and always enabled me to properly advocate and represent UVU students to administration.”
2015-16 Executive Vice President Phil Varney also chimed in on the resignation.
“It’s sad to lose someone who has been an integral part of this school for decades,” Varney said. “Phil did more for this school that I think any of us can comprehend and it’s a major loss for UVUSA.”
