The Utah Valley University track and field team was in Nampa, Idaho over the weekend competing at the Jackson’s/Nike Boise Invitational, their final indoor meet of the regular season. A total of six new track and field records were set over the weekend, along with many victories throughout for the Wolverines.

Senior distance runner Savannah Neuberger would start it off for the women in the 800m event. She won the event with a time of 2:11.92, which was a new school record . Neuberger’s teammate, Aisha Graham-Perez, finished in a close second and put herself at number two in the school record books with a time of 2:12.38.

Neuberger would go on to set another school record in her next event, the 1600m, with a time of 4:51.59. Meanwhile, senior Courtney Peterson, who raced as an unattached athlete over the weekend, would set a UVU school record in the 400m dash with a time of 55.77.

Peterson also captured wins in the 60m dash and 200m dash on the weekend, giving her three first-place finishes. The women’s distance medley team would also go on to set a school record to go along with a first place finish on the day with a time of 11:49. The next closest finish in that race was Eastern Oregon, who finished a full minute behind the Wolverines.

Starting it off for the men on the weekend was the distance medley team made up of freshmen Jared Gonzalez-Perez and Hawk Call and seniors, Kevin Lynch and Brandon Edmundson. This distance medley team took first with a time of 10:19 and are now number 10 on the all-time record list.

The biggest standout on the weekend for the men though was junior field athlete Albert MacArthur. He won the long jump and triple jump, also going on to break school records in both of these events. His height in the long jump was an impressive 7.59m and his distance in the triple jump was 15.67m.

After this impressive team effort in the last meet of the regular season, UVU will prepare for a conference title run in the WAC championships. The WAC championships will be held at the same location in Nampa, Idaho on Feb. 21-23.
