Wolverine cross country teams start the season off right as the women take second and the men finish third at the USU Invitational today. The opening-season meet was held on the Aggie Cross Country Course in Logan, Utah.
Wyoming men and women won the invitational with points of 23 and 16 respectively. UVU’s women’s squad earned their second-place finish with a 45 point tally and the men earn their third with 53 points. Men’s second place was taken by Utah State with 44 points.
The 2013 All-WAC performer, Darian Sharp, lead the lady Wolverines with a fifth place over all and a 19:34.38 in the 5K race. McKayla Morgan finished next for UVU as she place seventh with a time of 19:42.99 barley out finishing Ivie Gonsalves, a Wolverine captain.
Then gentlemen Wolverines were lead by redshirting freshman Tyson Lambert as he took eight via a time of 21:17.83 in the 4-mile race. The next UVU athletes to cross the finish-line in a sweep of 11th-14th were Seth Gutzwiller, Chris Brower, Logan Petty, and Rush Mills.
