At Utah Valley University, many may not know that there is a semi-pro basketball team playing at the McKay Events Center. The Utah Flash is a developmental basketball team whose NBA affiliates are the Utah Jazz and the Boston Celtics.

After 22 games in their season, the Utah Flash are 13-9 and sitting in third place in the Western Division behind the Bakersfield Jam and the first place Idaho Stampede.

At the McKay Events Center, the Flash has fared well, going 7-3. On the road they have struggled a bit, going 7-6.

For the season, the Flash is shooting just over 46 percent from the floor and 33 percent from 3-point range. They are averaging 99 points a game and defensively have held opponents to 45 percent shooting and 97 points a game.

The Flash has three players averaging double figures. They are led by recently- acquired Tulsa 66ers forward Ronald Dupree who is averaging 19.7 points a game, Guard Dontell Jefferson who has 18.1 per game, and Guard Andre Ingram who has 11.2.

Dupree seems to have been quite a pick up as they have won three straight games and gained some momentum as they try to turn things around on the road.

Jefferson leads the team in assists with 5.4 a game and steals with 1.5 a game. 30 year-old Carlos Wheeler leads the team in rebounds.

The Flash is starting to be on something of a roll, winning five of their last seven games. However, starting Feb. 26, ten of their next 12 games are on the road, which is where they have struggled.

The next Flash game at the McKay Events Center will be Friday Feb. 6 against the Los Angeles D-fenders, a team which the Flash has beaten three times this season.
