Lance is back
The most widely known name in cycling, Lance Armstrong, has announced in an online article for Vanity Fair that he will be coming out of retirement to race in the 2009 Tour de France. In need of resuscitation, the sport of cycling in general will benefit from Armstrong’s return. As to which team Armstrong will race for has yet to be determined, while his long time friend and former race director Johan Bruyneel is now a part of team Astana.
After finishing second to a world champion in a 100-mile mountain bike race earlier this year, Armstrong continued to train hard and feels he has a legitimate chance to win his eighth tour. As a way to promote cancer research and with the motive to once and for all clear his name for the skeptics that say he used performance-enhancing drugs, Armstrong will thrust his name back into the spotlight.
Brady out for season
After suffering a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee, the Patriots’ Tom Brady decided to undergo season ending surgery. The loss of Brady casts a shadow of optimism across the NFL as New England moves on with its back-up quarterback. To the dismay of fantasy football players across the nation Brady will be sporting the baseball cap rather than a football helmet.
