If football in Michigan was not bad enough already with the University of Michigan missing a bowl game for the first time in 32 years, the Detroit Lions made National Football League history going 0-16 and becoming the first team to do so. They are the first team to go winless since the Tampa Bay Buccaneers did it in 1976 going 0-14 in their first season as a team.
Mike Shanahan out in Denver
After losing three games in a row to lose its division lead and eventually miss the playoffs the Denver Broncos have fired head coach Mike Shanahan. Shanahan was dismissed after 14 seasons at the helm, including back-to-back Super Bowl titles with former Broncos star John Elway.
