Lowell, Mass. — The Utah Valley University Men’s Soccer team picked up its second straight win on Sunday morning with a 2-0 victory over UMass Lowell.
The win marks just the second road win in the program’s history as well as the second straight shutout for the Wolverines.
UVU sophomore Karson Payton scored the first goal of the game. He picked up a loose ball and from 20 yards out fired it past the Lowell goalkeeper to make it 1-0.
It was a defensive struggle throughout the game and neither team was able to establish much rhythm offensively. However, in the 73rd minute, UVU’s Paul Hoffmeister scored his first goal of the season to make it 2-0.
UVU was able to hold off a late attack by the Riverhawks as they pushed numbers forward trying to get on the scoreboard. The Wolverine defense and goalkeeper Collin Partee kept a clean sheet and held on for the shutout. It was the second straight shutout for Partee and the third of his career.
