Sports Brief: Wolverine to represent USA

Utah Valley’s Trac Norris will represent team USA at the upcoming 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships. He punched his ticket in the 3000-meter steeplechase on June 24 at the 2010 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.

Norris was one of only three qualifiers that finished ahead of the world qualifying time of 9:10.00. He will represent the USA in Canada in July.

In the event, Norris ran a 9:08.41 to qualify. The other two qualifiers were Dakota Peachee of High Point University – who won the race with a time of 9:03.43 – and Virginia Tech’s Jared Berman who came in at 9:04.76.

The 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships will take place July 19-25 in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.
