Bell Named GWC Player of the Week
Senior Keeper had 11 Saves in Win Over UTEP
UVU goalkeeper Tasha Bell was named the Great West Conference Player of the Week Monday for her effort in leading the Wolverines to a 1-0 victory over UTEP Sunday afternoon.
“Tasha did a great job. She was key in a number of corner kicks and set pieces in coming out and controlling the ball,” said UVU soccer coach Brent Anderson.
Bell, a senior from Davis High School, recorded 11 saves in posting her second career shut out and first this season.
The win was Utah Valley’s first this season, and it was only UTEP’s eighth loss at home since 2002.
UVU’s Manwill Named GWC Player of the Week
Camie Manwill, UVU volleyball player, was named the Great West Conference Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday for her play in leading the Wolverines to a second-place finish at the La Quinta Inn & Suites Invitational last weekend in Orem.
Manwill, a senior from Paradise, Calif., had 16 kills in Utah Valley’s 3-1 victory over then No. 17 Utah. She had 14 and 10 kills, respectively, in losses to Washington State and Missouri.
“I’m excited for Camie, especially because of the tough road she has taken to come back from knee surgery,” Utah Valley coach Sam Atoa said of Manwill, who missed all of last season. “It’s great to see her bounce back from the very tough times she had last year.”
Manwill was also named to the all-tournament team. She was also named to the all-tournament team at the Weber State Invitational that UVU won earlier this year.
