Orem Owlz

Aaron Wells was named the Orem Owlz general manager, the club announced last week. Wells replaces Zach Frasier, who was forced out before the end of the 2007 season. Wells spent the last five years involved with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, the Owlz’s Major League affiliate. Wells also worked for the University of Nebraska football and baseball programs, the Lincoln Saltdogs baseball club, and the Arkansas Travelers, the Angels’s Double-A affiliate.

Utah Jazz

C.J. Miles resigned with the Utah Jazz on the day before the team headed to Boise, Idaho for training camp. The Jazz gave Miles the offer, reportedly worth $945,610, on Jun. 29. Both parties had to agree to terminate after Jul. 23, but Miles signed and joins the battle for the starting shooting guard position. Miles, 20, will fight for playing time with rookie Morris Almond, Gordon Giricek and Ronnie Brewer.
