Twitter is the go-to spot for the latest news in the sports world and UVU athletics is no different. From game times, in-game updates, feature stories and more, Twitter is the place to be. The Review has compiled a list of 10 must-follow accounts every fan who bleeds Wolverine green needs to follow and be aware of.
UVU Review Sports (@uvureviewsports)
The sports section of The Review, the school newspaper, follows Wolverine sports more diligently than any other outlet. The coverage includes daily live-tweets of games, game stories, in-season and postseason review articles, columns breaking down storylines and feature stories on athletes. Anything published in our sports section will find its way onto this Twitter account.
Kaleb Searle (@k_searle87)
As The Review’s sports editor, Searle writes about several different sports at UVU. His main focuses are the men’s soccer and men’s basketball teams, though, and he offers insights, commentary and interactions throughout the season that will keep Wolverine fans informed.
Ty Bianucci (@TheNucci)
Bianucci is the assistant sports editor at The Review. Anything written by him will be posted on this account, as well as in-game recap tweets, analysis and interaction. Bianucci covers a multitude of Wolverine teams, but his specialty is baseball.
Kyle McDonald (@kylesportsbias)
A UVU alumnus, McDonald was the sports editor for The Review and contributed to the paper for several years before he became a contributor for KSL and started his own independent UVU blog. He is the most prominent beat reporter for the Wolverines and offers a great deal of interaction with fans on Twitter aside from his writing. For game insights and even recruitment news, he is your guy.
One Team All Green (@oneteamallgreen)
As mentioned above, this independent blog, lead by McDonald, follows UVU athletics and offers the latest updates, analysis of games, hot/cold streaks and otherwise dissects the action. Unorthodox write-ups, such as “in-game observations” and a friendly homer feel make Wolverine fans feel at home.
UVU Athletics (@WolverineGreen)
The official account of UVU athletics issues game information, press releases and game recaps, as well as information on any promotions UVU is holding for its teams. It’s all-inclusive for sports that may not receive proper coverage elsewhere. Want to know if a game was rescheduled? This is your spot.
UVU Men’s Basketball (@uvumbb)
This is the official account for the Wolverine men’s basketball team. News about the team that slips through the cracks of coverage elsewhere can be found here, as well as a few promotional events to get to know the players better.
Utah Valley Baseball (@UVUBaseball)
This is the official account for the Wolverine baseball team. It will also offer news about the team that might slip through the cracks of coverage elsewhere. With the games being played outside in what can be unpredictable spring weather, keep an eye on this account to know if any games have been delayed or postponed.
UVU MAWL (@UVUMAWL)
The Mighty Athletic Wolverine League is the official student section of the Wolverines. This account will tweet updates that fans need to know prior to the games, as well as offer pre-game tailgates, promotional events and free swag giveaways for UVU students.
WAC (@WACSports)
This is where to go to keep an eye on the Wolverines’ rivals. Each sports team at UVU, with the exception of the wrestling team, participates in the Western Athletic Conference. This account tweets breaking news, highlights, prominent feature stories and much more from every sport around the conference. This could be particularly relevant as the conference standings tighten down the stretch in each sport, impacting the UVU postseasons.
I grew up on a farm in Burley, Idaho, but I’ve always had an intense love of sports. I’m studying journalism in an attempt to turn my love into a career. I’m a huge Utah Jazz, Tennessee Titans, and San Jose Sharks fan. If it’s a sport, I’ll watch it.
