El Paso, Texas — The Utah Valley University women’s soccer team lost their fourth straight road contest 1-0 to the University of Texas-El Paso Miners on Friday night at University Field.
Angela Cutaia scored on a penalty kick in the 50th minute to give the Miners the win. The loss drops UVU to 0-4 on the road in 2015.
It was one of those games that UVU couldn’t catch a break. Wolverine goalkeeper Jessica Duffin stopped the shot initial shot by Cutaia. However, the referee ruled that she left her position too early giving Cutaia a second chance. She didn’t miss as she blasted a shot to the back of the net. It was enough to win the game for the Miners.
The shots were even as each team recorded 12 and 14, respectively. And the shots on goal were just as even at three and five, respectively.
UVU returns back to Clyde Field for a Sunday afternoon matinee against Portland State at 11 a.m. MT. The Wolverines will look to stay unbeaten at home.
