UVU women drop second straight contest
Cheney, Wash. – Rhaiah Spooner-Knight scored 20 points and Georgia Agnew scored 15 but it wasn’t enough as the Eastern Washington Eagles defeated UVU 68-64 at Reese Court on Thursday night.
The loss drops the lady Wolverine’s to 6-3 on the season and is the second loss in a row for the team. The win gave Eastern Washington and even .500 record at 4-4.
UVU had a 31-24 lead at halftime but the Eagles came out firing in the second half as they went on a 7-0 to tie the game up at 31 and from there it was a back and forth game. Late in the fourth quarter the Wolverines tied the game up at 62 but Eastern Washington used a 6-0 run to pull away for the victory. Hayley Hodgins scored 11 of her 18 points in the second half for the Eagles.
Spooner-Knight played an even game for the Wolverines as she had 10 points in both halves of the game. She also had six rebounds on the night.
Rebecca MaWhinney led UVU with 11 rebounds while teammate Mariah Seals grabbed two rebounds and had five assists.
The lady Wolverine’s shot 40 percent from the field. But they were only 21.4 percent from 3-point land. The real strength came from the foul line as the team shot 81 percent.
The Wolverine’s next game is on December 5 as they travel to Eugene to take on the Oregon Ducks at 5pm MT.
