After the lady Wolverines got out to a sluggish start to the 2008-09 season they have come together to rival last seasons record, which was the best in the programs short Division I history. Currently Utah Valley sits at 13-9, needing three wins to match last seasons 16-win season.

Fairbanks, with the help of her fellow Canadian teammate Julie McMurray, has paced the lady Wolverines during their recent winning streak. Senior guard Sandy Wall has also been a big part of Utah Valley’s winning ways. Wall contributed with 23 points in the Wolverines streak-breaking loss to Ohio.

The streak began back on January 13th with a win over Southern Utah in Orem. The Wolverines went on to win the next four, all home games, before venturing out onto the road for two more big wins. The first coming against NJIT and the second, a close win over Chicago State, pushed the season-long win streak to seven.

During the streak, Fairbanks upped her average to 26.2 points a game, which currently leads the nation. She is also nearing the 1,000-rebound mark for her career and has scored well over 2,000 points as a Wolverine.

With one home game remaining against NJIT the Wolverines will wrestle to position themselves for the upcoming D-I independent tournament, which will take place at UVU in early March. After last season’s tournament debacle the Wolverines are looking to make a strong showing in the tournament on their home floor.
