Women’s Golf walks away with 14th

The UVU women’s golf team ended their run at the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational with a 14th place finish. The Wolverines tallied a three-round total of 929 or 65 over par. Despite their overall finish, UVU posted above their season average single-round score of 310 in two of their three rounds. The team recoreded a 309 on Monday, a 306 Tuesday, and finished the tournament with a 314 on Wednesday.

Idaho (-14) took the tournament and were followed closely by Boise State (-4). The top half of the competing teams were: New Mexico State (+4), CSU Fullerton (+7), Grand Canyon (+11), Washington State (+13), and BYU (+13). Utah Valley finished off the total team ranking in last place with six other teams finished ahead of them.

Out of the five athletes who UVU brought to the event none made the tournament top 20. Kimberly Nyhus (227) led the team with a tying 44th finish. She was followed by Heather Mathison (233) and Monica Yeates (236) who finished in ties for 64th and 69th respectively. Hannah Herman and Cassandra Lesa rounded out the UVU roster for the invitational with 72nd places and tying scores of 238.

The lady Wolverines will be back for the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. The three day event will start on October 21st.
