Ben Aird scored 26 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocks, but all the “heart, soul, spirit” was not enough for the Wolverines to overcome the Highlanders.
The men’s basketball team had individual accomplishments, but couldn’t accomplish what they wanted to in Tennessee: to win the Dr. Pepper Classic championship.
With the overtime victory over Pepperdine on Homecoming Night, the Wolverine’s might have been able to pick up the momentum they needed for the rest of the season.
Holton Hunsaker is now the unofficial leader of this new Wolverine basketball team. His job: “To direct and orchestrate” this team on the court.
With UVU still trying to get national recognition, the 2012-13 season might fulfill that desire. UVU will travel to PAC-12 Washington State and host the WAC’s Utah State.
UVU’s men’s basketball team looks to come back this season with more experience on and off the bench. Time to get used to names like Aird, Hubbard, Hunsaker and Thompson.
