On Feb. 27, 2024, candidate profile videos for the upcoming student elections were posted to UVUSA’s Instagram account, @uvustudents. Comments both in dissent and support of the candidate’s spoken, preferred pronouns emerged. Simone Goodheart, vice president of engagement candidate, was the target of backlash for using she/her pronouns.
The highly anticipated Student Government Elections happened this week to vote for new leadership positions and constitutional changes.
The UVUSA student council has voted to approve a series of ballot measures that would alter the way the organization is structured; changes include removing the PR Chair from council and modifications to the Engagement branch and activity chairs.
The UVU Student Council has set the schedule for the upcoming student body elections, which are set to occur Mar. 4-7. Information was given to the student council during their weekly council meetings where they encouraged members of council to run along with other students.
The Student Council voted to approve a new elections packet for the 2024-2025 student body elections that now prohibits candidate giveaways. Campaign finances were also affected, now mandating donation amounts be disclosed.
The UVUSA announced the newly elected student body executives during a press conference to mark the official end of the term elections; Zac Whitlock is elected Student Body President.
