Sibling pair Donny and Marie Osmond teamed up for a 6-week run of a Las Vegas show in Sept. 2008 at the Flamingo Hotel. Fabulous and friendly crowd-pleasers, their show reached owerwhelming popularity in it’s momentum and their contract was extended untill Oct. 2010.
“Heading in las Vegas again after all these years is something Marie and I have wanted to do for some time and we are delighted to extend our run,” Donny said.
They dance and sing better and stronger than ever, building on a talent that they have capitalized on for decades. They were once famous for the one-take filming they did their popular television show in the 70’s-80’s.
Today, they are just as determined to reach excellence in their performance as ever. Age creates no limits in their ability to dazzle, although they both joke about it. “I can’t get up,” Marie said after a dance routine that ended on the floor. “This body?” Donny joked as he made a gesture at himself when the audience whistled as he changed jackets, but the audience kept on clapping in approval.
Both of the Osmonds’ maturity has not diminished their skill or their ability to dance and belt out thouse tunes. Their show is an amazing succes which brings invigorating energy to the Flamingo.
They combine their show with rock, country, Broadway opera, comedy and an element of sexiness. They are also accompanied with a talented group of dancers and backup singers which completes the show.
The median age for the audience members attending the April 4 performance was about 48, although the young adults present were also entertained and engaged.
“They really care about people,” was one of several coments heard in the lineup to meet and greet the pair. In front of the line you could hear Donny and Marie engage in laughter and conversation with old and new fans.
“Donny and I have a blast on stage every night and look forward to continuing the fun with our audiences,” Marie said. She has made Las Vegas her home with her 8 children for the time, and Donny continues to commute on the weekends to his home in Provo.
